Andalusia, Ala. (July 05, 2016) -- The Reverend Dr. Cynthia Howard, chairman of Andalusia Health's Board of Trustees, was recently honored with the prestigious LifePoint Health® 2016 Board Leadership Award. This award is presented annually to a board leader at one of LifePoint's 72 facilities across the nation who exemplifies the company's "High Five Guiding Principles," which focus on:

  • delivering high-quality patient care;
  • supporting physicians;
  • creating excellent workplaces for our employees;
  • taking a leadership role in our communities; and
  • ensuring fiscal responsibility.

"Our board members play a vital role in representing the needs of their communities and are integral to helping advance our mission of Making Communities Healthier," said Victor Giovanetti, FACHE, president of LifePoint Health's Western Group, of which Andalusia Health is a part. "As chairman of Andalusia Health's board and a member of the priesthood, Reverend Howard is a well-respected leader who has truly left her mark on the community. It is a privilege to work alongside someone so caring, compassionate and determined to do what's right for the people she represents and serves. We could not be more proud to honor Reverend Howard with our 2016 Board Leadership Award."

Serving on the Andalusia Health Board of Trustees since 2012, Reverend Howard quickly established herself as a highly engaged, collaborative and approachable leader. She is known for her enthusiasm and close involvement with key initiatives at the hospital, as well as her innate ability to forge strong and productive relationships between key constituents. Her confident and decisive leadership approach has been instrumental in guiding Andalusia Health through challenging periods and important decisions, such as the hospital's recent name change.

"Reverend Howard continuously goes above and beyond to make sure that the hospital and the community have the resources and support they need to thrive," said John Yanes, chief executive officer of Andalusia Health. "Her visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to serving others are inspiring and a driving force in the hospital's ability to continuously improve the overall health and well-being of this community."
