Andalusia Health Achieves 4 Star Rating

Andalusia Health received four out of five star rating in the January 2019 Hospital Compare Program. Hospital Compare is a CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) consumer-oriented website that provides information on how well hospitals provide care to their patients. This information can help consumers make informed decisions about health care. Hospital Compare allows consumers to select multiple hospitals and directly compare performance measure information related to heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgery and other conditions. As of the most recent report, January 2019, of over 4,500 hospitals in the nation, approximately 3,700 participated in the star rating. Veteran Affairs Administration (VA) Hospitals are excluded from the program. The rating system currently includes 7 groups of measures (Mortality, Safety of Care, Readmission, Patient Experience, Effectiveness of Care, Timeliness of Care and Efficient Use of Medical Imaging). With the most recent report, Andalusia Health is in the top third of hospitals nationally.

According to John Yanes, Andalusia Health CEO, “CMS’s goal is to offer a standardize process to measure and help improve hospitals’ quality of care through easy to understand data on hospital performance, and quality information from the patient perspectives. Andalusia Health has worked very hard with its medical staff and all hospital staff members to improve the quality of care we deliver to our patients”. “We are relentless in delivering safe, quality care to our patients”, he added.
